Partial withdrawal of taxis expected over bank-holiday weekend
The Dublin branch of the Taxi Drivers Federation will be taking part in a work stoppage over the busy bank-holiday weekend.
The stoppage is in support of drivers in Cork who are opposed to certain proposed changes to their work practices.
They are calling members all around the country to participate between 10pm on June 3 and 5am the next day.
Tommy Gorman says they do not want to put people out, but the point has to be made.
“There obviously won't be a total withdrawal of services in Dublin," he said today. “I don't even consider that will happen in Cork or any other part of the country.
“Cork are the pioneers in this action. They have set the ball rolling by having this withdrawal of service and we do know that there's a lot of anger and confusion at this system throughout Ireland and we can expect further action.”
