A woman has died after apparently crashing her car into a ditch in Co Offaly this morning.

A woman has died after apparently crashing her car into a ditch in Co Offaly this morning.

The vehicle was discovered in a ditch on the Edenderry to Rathangan road just before 7am, but is not known when the accident occurred.

The road has been closed while gardaí investigate the crash, with motorists being diverted onto other routes.
