Victims angered by Christian Brothers’ abuse accusation

Victims of child abuse are due to deliver a letter of protest this morning to the commission inquiring into their experiences.

The move by the Survivors of Child Abuse group follows comments made during a sitting of the inquiry yesterday.

Representatives from the Christian Brothers accused some victims of making complaints for their own financial gain and conspiring with lawyers to fabricate evidence of abuse.

Speaking this morning, SOCA spokesman John Kelly said a letter of protest would be delivered to the Child Abuse Commission because victims were being denied an opportunity to challenge the accusation before the inquiry.
