€13,000 worth of contraband cigarettes seized in Rosslare

Gardaí in Co Wexford have arrested a Latvian man following the discovery of tens of thousands of contraband cigarettes at Rosslare Port.

Customs officials say cigarettes worth an estimated €13,000 were found concealed in a car and caravan that arrived in the port from Cherbourg this morning.

The illegal cargo was hidden in the petrol tank and seats of the car, as well as beneath the floor of the caravan.

The man arrested in connection with the haul is due in court later today.
