Travellers hold protest in Castlebar, Mayo

Travellers have held the first of a series of national protests in Castlebar, County Mayo this afternoon.

They want to highlight what they say is the injustice, oppression and racism faced by their community on a daily basis.

Bernie Sweeney of the Travellers for Travellers Movement said, “we do not have our culture recognised, and do not have our rights recognised as human beings.”
