A 30-year-old father of one has died after being shot through the window of his house in a gangland-style attack in north Dublin.

The man was sitting in his living room on Ratoath Avenue in Finglas when several shots were fired through the window at around 10pm last night.

He was hit in the stomach and rushed to hospital in Blanchardstown, where he died a short time later.

The man's girlfriend, his young son and another child were also in the house at the time, but all escaped injury.

Gardaí believe the gunman fled the scene in a silver car driven by an accomplice.

Reports this morning said the victim was a small-time criminal who had also been injured in another shooting around a year ago.
