Dublin Airport was forced to close for around half an hour last night while a plane with a fire on board made an emergency landing.

The pilot of the Iberian Airlines flight from Barcelona reported a fire in the rear of the aircraft while arriving to land at around 8pm.

All 97 passengers and six crew on board were safely evacuated during the emergency.

All departing flights were grounded for around half an hour while the fire services dealt with the situation. Flights coming in to land were told to circle overhead while the drama unfolded..
