ATM skimming charge struck out
A charge against a teenager who was arrested in connection with an alleged ATM scam has been struck out due to a delay in the garda investigation.
The 17-year-old boy, who is from Romania, had been before the Dublin Children’s Court charged with possession of a skimming device and a pin-hole camera made or adapted for use in connection with a theft offence, on Lower O’Connell Street, on January 8 last.
The State had been given until today to have the DPP’s directions or see the case struck out.
Garda Gerard Moore told Judge Bryan Smyth that directions were not yet available due to the complexity of the investigation which he described as “huge” adding that the device had to be decoded.
Judge Smyth noted that the case had already been made peremptory against State in March and struck the case out.
