FF study finds major inaccuracies in electoral register

Research conducted by Fianna Fáil supporters has reportedly backed claims that Ireland's electoral register is riddled with inaccuracies.

Reports this morning said the study in the Dublin South East constituency suggested that up to 15,000 people were on the register despite being dead or no longer resident in the area.

It also reportedly found that up to 17,000 eligible voters were not properly registered.

The study was carried out by members of Ógra Fianna Fáil based in Trinity College and involved a survey of 1,200 houses, flats and apartments.

The Government has already promised measures to correct the electoral register in response to fears that over-registration may lead to voter fraud.
