Gardaí are investigating a second overnight shooting incident, this time in Cork city.

A man in his late teens was shot at number of times when he answered the door of his home at Ardmore Avenue in Knocknaheeny just before 11pm last night.

His was brought to the Mercy Hospital to be treated for his injuries, which were not said to be serious.

He has since been discharged.

Meanwhile, gardaí in Santry are continuing to question a 17-year-old man in connection with an attack in which a 21-year-old man was injured.

He was shot a number of times when he answered a knock on his door at about 11.20pm last night in the Cromcastle Court area in Kilmore West, Dublin 5.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to both incidents to come forward.
