Man pleads guilty to harrassing Gilson family

A 26-year-old man who has pleaded guilty to harassing model Glenda Gilson and her family will be sentenced in October by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Daniel Rooney, of Castleknock Cottages, Castleknock, pleaded guilty to harassment of the Gilson family by, without lawful authority or reasonable excuse, persistently communicating with Glenda Gilson, Noel Gilson and Aileen Gilson by means including e-mail and telephone at various locations with in the county and city of Dublin on dates between November 12, 2004 and March 21, 2005.

Judge Katherine Delahunt remanded Rooney on continuing bail to a date in October when evidence of the offence will be heard.

Paul Carroll BL, prosecuting, indicated that a mention date was required in relation to Rooney next month to allow the Director of Public Prosecutions to consider whether or not a plea will be required to a further charge on the indictment.

Glenda Gilson is the girlfriend of Ireland rugby international Brian O'Driscoll.
