DPP reported to be dropping Laide manslaughter retrial
There are reports the retrial of Dermot Laide for the manslaughter of Brian Murphy has been dropped.
The County Monaghan man was due back in court tomorrow in connection with the killing which occurred outside Annabels night club in Dublin six years ago.
The Director of Public Prosecutions is expected to tell the court the trial will not go ahead, for undisclosed reasons.
Laide, who along with all three of his co-accused, was a former student of Blackrock College, was given a four-year sentence for manslaughter in 2004.
However, this was overturned by the Court of Criminal Appeal and a retrial ordered.
