Fine Gael calls for lawn touting to be changed
Fine Gael says the law needs to be changed to tackle ticket touts.
It comes as a pair of tickets for Sunday's Munster-Leinster rugby game sold for €600 on e-bay this afternoon.
Other tickets being auctioned on the internet site are getting bids of over one thousand euros.
Fine Gael sports spokesman Jimmy Deenihan has a Bill ready to outlaw touting but it's been rejected by the government.
Mr. Deenihan said: “My Bill would have made it a criminal offence at major musical, sporting or theatrical events at a higher price than what is printed on the ticket. Also, it would have given greater powers to the Gardai. This would enable them to confiscate tickets from suspected touts.”
