Obesity under discussion at IMO conference today
The issue of obesity is topping the agenda at the annual conference of the Irish Medical Organisation in Killarney today.
Doctors are demanding that the Government take urgent action to tackle growing obesity levels in Ireland.
The problem is expected to put further strain on the health services in the years to come, with 300,000 children now classified as obese.
The IMO's demands include the devotion of more classroom time to nutrition and healthy lifestyles, as well as a ban on fast-food advertising before 9pm.
