Gerry Adams says the legacy of 1916 should belong to everyone and everyone should have the right to celebrate it.

The Sinn Féin leader is addressing his party's Easter Commemoration in Dublin this afternoon.

Mr Adams welcomed the Government's decision to re-instate the Easter Rising parade, and called on people to turn out tomorrow to support it.

He also urged the Government to fulfil the promise of the Proclamation with a united Ireland.

"I think the legacy or 1916 is for all the people of this island because what the Proclamation is about essentially is the future," he said.

"Everyone should own the future," he added.
