Three held over vodka lorry hijack

Three men were arrested today after a lorry carrying €300,000 euro worth of vodka was hijacked in Co Meath.

Three men were arrested today after a lorry carrying €300,000 euro worth of vodka was hijacked in Co Meath.

Gardaí said the truck driver was en route from from Bailieboro to Dublin this morning when he was ambushed.

A gang of men stopped and hijacked the lorry at around 11am near Dunshaughlin.

The lorry was found several hours later in the Delvin area of Co Westmeath at around lunchtime and the three men were arrested.

The trio are being detained under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act and are being detained at Mullingar and Longford garda stations.

The truck driver was not injured in the hijack.
