Doctor slams food industry over obesity epidemic
A top consultant is demanding action to tackle the obesity epidemic.
According to IrishHealth.Com, Dr Donal O'Shea is calling on the Government to implement a national blueprint.
He says nothing can happen until the report is brought before cabinet and an implementation group is set up.
Dr O'Shea is also highly critical of the food industry, claiming that it hasn't kept a promise to get rid of supersize chocolate bars.
A spokesperson for the Department of Health says it's planning to set up a Health Improvement Forum, which will provide a structure for the taskforce proposals and co-ordinate health promotion.
