Search for fishermen hampered by weather

The search for two fishermen missing off the coast of Wexford is expected to be seriously hampered by bad weather conditions today.

The search for two fishermen missing off the coast of Wexford is expected to be seriously hampered by bad weather conditions today.

Glenn Cott from Ballycotton, and his Polish crewman, Jan Sankowski, have been missing since their trawler the 'Maggie B' sank last Wednesday night.

The search, which resumed this morning, is being co-ordinated from the naval vessel the LE Ciara.

Its captain Anthony Geraghty said conditions have deteriorated over-night posing obstacles for search teams.

“Wind conditions are very poor at the moment and that will hamper search operations today,” he said.

Mr Geraghty said it won't be possible for any small craft to be involved in the search as winds will be creating on shore winds and large waves which will make the search extremely hazardous.
