Security staff to vote on online check-in proposals
Security staff at Dublin Airport are to hold a vote on whether to co-operate with new online check-in procedures.
Under the scheme, which is currently only being operated by Ryanair, customers can check in their hand luggage online and then print their boarding card themselves. This avoids having to check in at the airport.
Earlier this week, it emerged that security staff at Dublin Airport were refusing to co-operate with the scheme due to a number of concerns.
The dispute was referred to the Labour Relations Commission and SIPTU has now announced that the security staff will vote over the coming days on proposals to co-operate with the scheme.
Spokesman Christy McQuillan said the proposals addressed a number of issues, including annual leave, time-in-lieu arrangements, pay scales and rosters.
