HSE reviewing surgical services at Navan Hospital
The Health Service Executive has confirmed that it is reviewing surgical services at Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan.
The move follows a risk assessment of general surgical services at the Co Meath facility which recommended that a number of issues be addressed.
The review will assess if any operations are being carried out too infrequently to maintain the hospital's competence in relation to the procedures.
It will also examine the quality of clinical management in a number of cases selected at random.
On top of this, the Royal College of Surgeons has also been asked to examine the circumstances surrounding a number of surgical cases.
Meanwhile, the HSE has also confirmed that allegations of bullying have been made against Our Lady's Hospital and are being investigated.
