Ireland is becoming increasingly selfish, impatient and arrogant as a result of its growing prosperity, according to Social and Family Affairs Minister Seamus Brennan.

Speaking at a conference of marriage counsellors in Cavan yesterday, Mr Brennan said Ireland was failing to use its new-found wealth to "reach down and lift up those who have been left behind".
