Palm House at Botanic Gardens wins prestigious prize
A building at the National Botanic Gardens has won a prestigious European prize.
The Palm House Complex, owned by the Office of Public Works, has been given the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage.
The restoration of the house is part of an on-going programme of development for the Botanic Gardens.
It dates back to the 1880's and is the last known prefab Palm House of its period surviving today in western Europe.
