Gardaí warned of baby-sitting duties for reserve officers

Senior gardaí will become baby-sitters for hundreds of volunteers if the planned Reserve goes ahead, it was claimed tonight.

With Justice Minister Michael McDowell determined to have the part-time force on the streets by September, over 1,000 high-ranking officers were told they would be minders for a disloyal, amateur branch of An Garda Siochana.
