Five held in relation to birthday party shooting
Four men and one woman were being questioned by gardaí today in connection with the indiscriminate shooting of a young mother of one at a birthday party in north Dublin.
Donna Cleary, 22, died in the early hours of Sunday morning after she was shot by a lone gunman who sprayed the front of a house in Adare Green, Coolock, with bullets.
Detectives arrested the five at a house in Kildare shortly after 11pm last night.
They are being detained at Santry and Coolock garda stations under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and can be held for up three days.
Gardaí have appealed for taxi drivers who drove customers from Innis Fáil GAA club in Balgriffin on Saturday night to a house party at Adare Green to come forward.
At around 2am yesterday morning, three men were turned away from the party. Half an hour later, a silver car pulled up outside the house before an unmasked gunman took aim, firing five or six shots at the terraced house.
It is hoped CCTV footage from Dublin City Council civic offices at the entrance to the housing estate could aid the investigation.
Detectives are appealing for anyone with information on the shooting, or who may have seen a silver car in the area around the same time, to contact them on 01 666 4200.
