Murder inquiry after woman dies in Dublin gun attack

A 22-year-old woman has been killed in a gun attack on a house in Coolock , Dublin.

A 22-year-old woman has been killed in a gun attack on a house in Coolock , Dublin.

The woman who was from the area had been attending a birthday party in a house in Adare Green.

Prior to the shooting, a group of three to four men were refused entry to the party at about 2am and they left the scene, according to gardaí.

It is believed a lone gunman fired a number of shots at the front of the house about 2.30am.

The victim was in the sitting room of the house and was struck in the upper body.

The woman was taken to the Beaumont Hospital but pronounced dead shortly after 4.30am.

The scene was preserved for technical examination and a post mortem is due to be conducted by the State Pathologist.

Gardaí who have launched a murder inquiry have appealed for witnesses to contact them at Coolock garda station on 01 6664200.
