Nursing home makes €27.5m from sale of farmer’s land
A Co Cork nursing home is €27.5m better off following the sale of a house and land left to it in a bachelor farmer's will.
Sidney Northridge, who died several years ago, left the 11 acres to St Luke's Nursing Home in Cork city in what was one of the biggest-ever charitable donations in the State.
Four acres of zoned commercial land on the Cork Airport Road was sold to an estate agent in Dublin for €13.8m, while the remaining seven acres of residentially-zoned land was bought by a Cork developer for €13.7m.
