Dunnes offers to reinstate fired union-member employee

The Dunnes Stores worker - who was fired for wearing a trade union badge - says she is 'gobsmacked' that the retail giant is offering to reinstate her.

The Dunnes Stores worker - who was fired for wearing a trade union badge - says she is 'gobsmacked' that the retail giant is offering to reinstate her.

Shop steward Joanne Delaney has gotten her job back after a three-month campaign that also got backing internationally.

Miss Delaney says she is overjoyed and will go back and work with Dunnes - despite what has happened.

“I have from the start said that I wanted to go back, that was my main objective for all this campaign…to get my job back”, said Mis s Delaney.

“I felt, and I still feel, that I did nothing wrong”, she said.

“I have until 5pm tomorrow evening (Sunday) to let them know my answer and my answer is obviously ‘yes’”, she added.
