North faces postal strike ballot

Postal services in the North were threatened with fresh chaos tonight after union officials decided to ballot staff on official strike action.

Royal Mail bosses were accused of going back on pledges amid attempts to clear a backlog of seven million undelivered items from the wildcat action in Belfast which only ended last Friday.
