Man arrested in connection with Fermoy murder
Gardaí in Co Cork have arrested a man in his 50s in connection with the murder of John Mahon in Fermoy at the weekend.
The 60-year-old father-of-five was shot dead near his home while returning from the pub in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Mr Mahon was a former international boxing referee and a senior official with the Munster Boxing Association.
He is believed to have been involved in an argument with another man around an hour before he was killed.
