A US financial services company is planning to create 350 jobs in Dundalk over the next three years as part of an investment backed by the IDA.

The move will see the Vesta Corporation opening a European operations centres at the Finnabair Business Park in the Co Louth town.

The company is involved in authenticating and screening internet credit-card transactions, as well as online top-ups for pre-paid telecoms products like mobile phones and long-distance calling cards.

Vesta said it chose Dundalk as the location for its new centre because of the availability of qualified and skilled labour, as well as Ireland's membership of the European Union, which is required to allow the company to serve European mobile-phone operators.
