FG to table motion of no confidence in Mary Coughlan

Fine Gael is to table a motion of no confidence against Agriculture Minister Mary Coughlan in the Dáil tonight.

Fine Gael is to table a motion of no confidence against Minister for Agriculture Mary Coughlan in the Dáil tonight.

The party has accused the minister of incompetence in a range of areas, including her handling of the EU nitrates directive limiting the amount of fertiliser that farmers can spread on their land.

It has also criticised Ms Coughlan's failure to introduce country-of-origin food labelling, her inability to prevent imported meat from being passed off as Irish and her handling of EU reforms that have led to the end of sugar production in Ireland.
