Teen charged with musician's murder

A teenager was today charged with the murder of Derry blues musician Jim Gilchrist.

A teenager was today charged with the murder of Derry blues musician Jim Gilchrist.

The 18-year-old is the fourth person to be charged with the murder last September. The accused is due to appear before Derry Magistrates Court later, said a police spokeswoman.

Mr Gilchrist, 62, was killed after a night out at a local motorcycle club. He was last seen leaving the Oval Bar in the city’s Waterside area in the early hours of September 28.

His body was found in the River Foyle later the same day.

Those previously charged with the murder are two other 18-year-olds and a 27-year-old.
