Protest to be held outside Fianna Fáil selection convention

A demonstration will be held this evening against plans to build a new super prison in North County Dublin.

The Rolestown/Saint Margaret's Action Group will protest outside a Fianna Fáil convention to select the party's North Dublin candidate for the next general election.

The group said it is dismayed at the government's plans to relocate Mountjoy Prison to Thornton Hall, and they believe they've been very badly treated by the Government.

"We want to make Fianna Fáil extremely aware that we're here, and we have a big problem, and they haven't been very supportive so far," said spokesperson Nessa Shevlin.

"We want them to know whatever candidate they choose, they'll have to take on this big issue," she said.
