SF man threatened with gun at Derry football match
The PSNI is investigating claims that a Sinn Féin activist was threatened with a gun while playing in a Gaelic football match in Co Derry over the weekend.
The party says the match in Coleraine was just about to get underway on Saturday morning when a man wearing a balaclava ran onto the pitch and threatened the activist with a handgun.
The player managed to flag down a car and escape his attacker without any shots being fired.
Local Sinn Féin councillor Billy Leonard said it was unclear if the incident was a scare tactic or a potential attack.
He also appeared to blame loyalist paramilitaries, saying: "Whatever the motivation, there are guns in loyalist areas that are being targeted at one of our activists."
