Gardaí searching for further human remains in north Cork
Gardaí are searching for further human remains in a field in Co Cork today following the discovery of a skull and other bones at the location earlier this week.
The skull, which was found by a farmer in the Tullig area of Buttevant on Wednesday, has been confirmed as that of a 41-year-old local man who disappeared four years ago.
William O'Brien, from Boherascrub, was reported missing in April 2002.
An extensive six-week search was carried out in the area at the time, but it failed to find any sign of the 41-year-old.
Gardaí reportedly believe the skull found this week may have been brought to the field by a dog or a fox.
They are continuing to search for the rest of Mr O'Brien's remains and are keeping his family up to date on all developments in the case.
