Pair quizzed after hijacked driver assaulted
Gardaí were today questioning two Latvian men after a car was hijacked and the female driver assaulted.
The woman, who is in her mid-30s, was waiting at traffic lights on East Wall Road near Dublin Port when two men approached her at 9.15pm yesterday.
A Garda spokesman said one man forced his way into the passenger seat and assaulted the woman while the other man got in the driver’s side.
“The woman managed to escape on foot but her attackers followed her in an attempt to grab her back into the car,” he said.
Gardaí were alerted and spotted the car during an immediate search of the area.
Two men were arrested and taken to Store Street garda station, where they are currently detained under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.
Gardaí said the woman was not sexually assaulted during the attack.
