Post mortem due on body of missing man pulled from river

A post mortem will be carried out today in Kerry General Hospital on the body of a man pulled from a river in Co Kerry yesterday.

Thirty-eight-year-old Patrick Flahive had been missing for three days before his remains were recovered near Castlemaine.

He was last seen there in the early hours of Tuesday morning, January 10, when he was hoping to catch a lift back to his home in Keel.

He failed to come home and his disappearance prompted a massive search involving Gardaí, rescue teams and hundreds of local volunteers.

The search drew to a close yesterday afternoon when his body was recovered from the River Maine in the town.
