Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition to open today

This year's annual Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition is due to get underway at the RDS in Dublin later today.

Thousands of pupils from around the country are set to attend the event, which is currently in its 42nd year.

Around 500 science and technology projects are on show, with the exhibition due to open to the public on Thursday.

This year's attractions include an eight-foot robot, edible insects and a show called the Theatre of Science that ends with a person passing one million volts of electricity through his body.
