Maura Reynolds, 78, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, was reported missing from the Tara Nursing Home at 6.30am. She has not been seen since.

Detectives said they were interested in hearing from anyone who may have been walking near Bray Head or on the Bray Head walk between 9pm and 11pm on Christmas Day.

Mrs Reynolds is 5’4” with fair hair and walks with a slight stoop. She may have been wearing a purple suit or night clothing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the gardai at Bray at 01-6665300.

The grandmother of nine and great grandmother of one was last seen by an orderly at the home shortly after midnight on Christmas night.

When her room was checked early the next morning she was gone.

Fears are growing for her welfare as she has been missing for more than 48 hours.

Temperatures in the Wicklow area fell to below freezing last night while snow showers have added to the wintry conditions.

Mrs Reynolds’ family appealed to people to check their property for the woman. She had spent Christmas Day with family members in Co Dublin.
