The health insurance firm BUPA has told the High Court that it will have to withdraw from the Irish market if so-called 'risk equalisation' is introduced in the new year.

The company's lawyers made the remarks this afternoon as the Department of Health mounted a challenge to an injunction preventing the Government from introducing the measure on January 1st.
