Inquiry launched into Cavan shooting fatality

Gardaí have launched an investigation into the death of a 25 year-old woman in Kilnaleck in Co Cavan, yesterday.

It is understood the woman was killed when a shotgun was set off accidentally by a family member.

The incident happened during Christmas Day celebrations at a house in the town.

A post mortem is due to be carried out today, and the scene has been preserved for technical examination.
