Separated fathers hold Christmas protest march in Dublin

Dozens of men dressed in Santa Claus outfits are marching on the Dáil today to protest about how Irish family law treats separated fathers.

The Unmarried and Separated Fathers of Ireland group claims men are being denied equal access and visiting rights to their children in the event of a family break-up.

Spokesman Ray Kelly said Christmas was a particularly difficult time for fathers who aren't allowed to see their kids.

"Many fathers are not going to get the opportunity of seeing their children this year and we're asking the Government to address these issues," he said.

"Today's protest demonstration is not just about fathers, it's about children and it's about fathers wanting to love and care for their children."
