Catholic Church publishes new child-protection guidelines
The Catholic Church in Ireland has published new guidelines on child protection in a policy document entitled Our Children, Our Church.
The measures include the establishment of a national board for child protection aimed at preventing further incidences of child abuse.
The board will consist of parents and experts from the childcare, psychology, theology, law, education and business sectors.
Speaking at the launch of the document today, Archbishop Sean Brady said he wanted to ensure that children, parents, clergy and the public had confidence in the church's commitment to child protection.
