Ahern plays down controversy over PPARS system

The Taoiseach has sought to play down the controversy surrounding the PPARS computer system designed to streamline the health service's payroll and human resources functions.

The rollout of the system was suspended earlier this year after it emerged that it had already cost almost €150m and was not yet completed.
