Poll shows fall in confidence in PSNI

Public confidence in the PSNI has fallen slightly in the latter half of this year, according to an opinion poll commissioned by the North's Policing Board.

Just 61% of Catholic respondents and 73% of Protestant respondents said they had confidence in the police force, down from 73% and 82% respectively last April.

Overall, 60% said they thought the PSNI was doing a good job, down from 63% in April.

The Policing Board said it was not surprised by the results as the poll was taken within days of the disturbances that accompanied the Orange Order's contentious Whiterock parade in September.
