Hundreds of prisoners are locked in their cells at Maghaberry Prison in Co Antrim today following a bomb alert.

Hundreds of prisoners are locked in their cells at Maghaberry Prison in Co Antrim today following a bomb alert.

The lockdown was imposed this morning when a Belfast newsroom received a telephone call saying a bomb had been planted at the jail.

All cells have been locked and visits have been cancelled while bomb disposal experts carry out a search with the aid of sniffer dogs.
