Road blocks for death crash witnesses
Police mounted checkpoints in East Belfast this morning to find vital witnesses to a road traffic fatality a week ago.
A 37-year-old male pedestrian died after a collision with a red BMW saloon car on the Upper Newtownards Road, Dundonald at 8am last Sunday morning.
Police stopped all road users in the area between 7.30am and 8.30am today in the hope that they made a similar journey a week ago and may have important information.
“We are seeking every possible assistance to help our investigation,” a PSNI spokesman said.
A 38-year-old man appeared before Downpatrick Magistrates Court on Monday and was charged in connection with the collision.
