Killaloe priest steps aside amid child protection probe

A priest in the Diocese of Killaloe has stepped aside pending the outcome of an investigation into an undisclosed allegation against him.

The diocese said the accusation dated back 20 years and related to child protection, but provided no further detail.

The priest in question was also the subject of a previous allegation in Britain, but no charges were brought by the authorities on that occasion.
