Group calls for quick introduction of random breath-testing

The Government is being called on to speed up the introduction of random breath-testing.

The call came today as MEAS, the Mature Enjoyment of Alcohol in Society group, launched its Christmas campaign against drink driving.

The group said that as a society we must ensure that people who drink, don’t drive.

Chief Executive Fionnuala Sheehan said random breath-testing is key in the fight against road deaths.

She said people need to believe that if we drink and drive, we will be caught, and there will be quick, personal consequences.
