Three quizzed after man shot in Donaghmede

Three men are being questioned over a shooting in north Dublin in which a man was injured, gardaí said today.

A lone gunman approached three people on Ardara Avenue in Donaghmede at around 5pm last night, singled out one of them and shot him.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital where his condition is not said to be life-threatening.

The gunman escaped in a Volvo car driven by another man, a Garda spokesman said.

The car was later found abandoned and burned out on Hole In The Wall Road, after the men dumped it and transferred into a white van.

The second vehicle was stopped on the M1 near Swords and three people were arrested under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act, the spokesman said.

They are being held separately at Santry, Coolock and Malahide garda stations.
